Miles ahead of his first Solo album and i know this is supposed to be Los Lobotomys but it has Luke all over and in front of it.
STEVE LUKATHER CANDYMAN RARITY PROFESSIONAL
Steve lukather is a great musician.he has the ability to be professional and sensual at the same time.the production is excellent what an atmosphere!i agree that this is similar with the "kingdom of desire" album.overall a pleasant experience If you understand the brilliance that is Luke's playing high class Hard Rocking music with moments of fusion I'd say pick it up right now. However also on this one there are the typical moments of trademark Toto resemblance. Luke's solo efforts are just like it even though he's Hard Rock what Toto is to AOR first of all. The thing is you gotta understand the band and their motivation of playing this wide range of genres back and forward to feel what they're all about. The fact that whatever they're playing they don't ever lose one inch of credibility, it's all highest quality material for you to enjoy.

Them making the transition from Rock to Jazz, Pop to R&B and back is what makes them great. Toto is one of these bands I basically like everything from. This is Toto's dark side showing the way Luke presented it on the here last Toto album Kingdom Of Desire which is just as much of a gem. This is nothing short of a phenomenal album. One thing never change from Mr Lukather (except his dissapointing 3rd album) is his typical chord progression and his lead solos, very impressive, sweet and jazz-oriented. Dont compare this to the Fahrenheit or Seventh One era. Jake To The Bone) and Tambu albums, they still have the same atmosphere. Sorry guys, I think it's still a Toto-like album. TIM - i can see what you mean - a bit of a 'Musos' release i think - you either like it or you don't. But it's nowhere close the the "Lukather" album, which combines great songwriting and musicianship on one album. "Borrowed Time" is a great track, and pretty much warrants me keeping this album, and it is better than "Luke".

But this is not my thing at all, and truth be told it just bores me. I know I should have more of an open mind, and should marvel at the technical aspects of the musicianship etc etc. Sorry Jez, but this all just leaves me cold. That's correct, it's not TOTO like album, or an AOR album, but tracks like Borrowed Times or Never Walk Alone will satisfy any AOR lover apetite One track on this sums up the whole disc and that is 'Froth' - just sit back and be amazed, be very amazed. The Band ain't no slouches either, Simon Phillips needs no introductions, John Pena is one Amazing bass player & David Garfield an excellent keyboardist. What you get is the mainly instrumental Rock/Fusion type thingy, with Luke playing an absolute blinder throughout. This is basically a Los Lobotomys release & not a Lukather solo release,so don't go expecting any Toto like stuff on this. Long as they are at least 4 songs in length.Įxisting comments about this CD Heavy Harmonies Volunteer
